I'm not going to even bother with a grinder if I have to cut the stump that close to the ground. At that point I'll just drill several holes in what's left, pour buttermilk on it and let nature do the rest.

Per a University of WI specialist, de-thatching is almost always not necessary and is a bad thing. It usually only helps weeds to develop.

this looks like just a dethatcher to me with the bin for seed. this is not a seed slicer.

I don't see how it can work. It drops the seed, then the blades crush the seed into dust, then it spits the thatch and any remaining seed out the back, and the rest of the un-mashed seed lays on top of the ground, just as if you had used a broadcast spreader. What am I missing?

Do you really want to use it on nice thick grass like that? I guess its dethatching but the grass its pulling up looks green and healthy.

That machine is not a stumpgrinder - it is a stump-stroker... 5 inches under ground ! What is that good for ?? Better use a LASKI Predator 38, Same price and double efficiency and goes 15 inches under ground.

One note of caution when using this tool. It works great, but just know that it can cause joint problems to your elbows, wrist or fingers. It also says this in the literature. I used it to remove tile from a complete bathroom on flood, walls,shower. I have had pain in my elbows and right hand little finger joints since then which feels like what many people with arthritis probably experience. That was 6 months ago and it still exist. Just FYI. You may not experience this, but it is a real possibility for some people who may use this tool, especially in the hammer mode with the flat chisel attachment like she's using to remove tile.

Mow first, then go ahead and dethatch your lawn using a medium setting on your verti-cutter seeder, without seeding. Then after you have raked and removed the thatch from the area you want to re-seed, go over the area again with seed. Lightly water the re-seeded area for the next week or two, and hope it rains a little. Good Luck, FR
